TODAY'S SCRIPTURE VERSE: Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Psalms 37:3

TRUST

As we go through life we learn to trust, and not to trust as our experiences teach us accordingly. Trust in some of our modern conveniences has been built to the point of expectation, which is a product of fully trusting.

In this passage of scripture David has started off with the words "fret not thyself because of evildoers", as a warning to those who would trust in temporal material things. We too will at times get caught up in trusting what we see, rather than what we know to be true in God. The word "trust" here means "to be confident, to be sure", and if we really know God we will be assured of His provision. Because God's word is infallible we should have far greater expectation of Him than of modern inventions we trust in everyday! "my soul, wait thou only upon god; for my expectation is from him." Psalms 62:5. As we learn to trust in God to the point of anticipation, we will know without doubt or a second thought that we can totally depend upon Him!

Do we trust God as much as we trust that when the light switch in our house is turned on the bulb will illuminate, or when the ignition switch in our automobile is activated the engine will start? Lord help us to trust in you to the point of expectation, then we can truly delight ourselves in you, and commit ourselves totally that we may rest in thee.
